Track: Vascular & Aortic Diseases

Heart Conference 2027

Vascular and Aortic disease encompass a spectrum of life-threatening conditions from acute Type A and B aortic dissection to asymptomatic thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms requiring rapid diagnosis, risk stratification, and increasingly, minimally invasive endovascular intervention. This session examines CT-based aortic morphology assessment for dissection and aneurysm surveillance, updated TEVAR and EVAR indication thresholds, the management of uncomplicated Type B dissection with Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair (TEVAR) versus optimal medical therapy, genetically triggered aortopathies including Marfan, Loeys-Dietz, and bicuspid aortic valve-associated aortopathy, peripheral arterial disease management including endovascular lower limb revascularisation, and carotid artery disease.

Key Discussion Areas:

  • Surveillance thresholds and timing for aortic aneurysm intervention
  • Endovascular versus open repair outcomes across aortic pathology
  • Screening and treatment gaps in peripheral artery disease
  • Managing acute aortic dissection from diagnosis to definitive repair
  • Genetic aortopathies, such as Marfan and Loeys-Dietz syndrome, and their surveillance protocols
  • Advances in carotid stenting versus endarterectomy
