Biography

Dr. Chandrasekhar Krishnamurti, M.D., is an Emeritus Professor of Anesthesiology affiliated with NTR University of Health Sciences, Andhra Pradesh, India, with a distinguished career spanning several decades in clinical practice, academia, and military service. He completed his MBBS in 1974 and MD in Anesthesiology in 1980 from the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, and served as a Surgeon Commander in the Indian Navy from 1974 to 1996. Following his naval service, he contributed extensively to medical education as Professor of Anesthesiology at NRI Institute of Medical Sciences, Visakhapatnam (2001–2022), and later as Professor in Accident & Emergency at the Asian Institute of Medicine, Technology and Sciences, Malaysia (July 2025–January 2026). Dr. Krishnamurti is the author of notable reference books, including Code Red – The Disaster Manual and Code Blue – The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Manual, and has published over 50 papers in national and international medical journals. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Disaster Medicine and Management from Thames International University, Paris, in August 2023. Beyond medicine, he has a unique distinction in thematic philately, holding a diploma in philately, winning a silver medal for his exhibit on “Heart, Circulation & Health,” and achieving three world records for the largest collection of cardiac-themed stamps.

Research Interest

Dr. Chandrasekhar Krishnamurti’s research interests primarily focus on Anesthesiology, Emergency and Critical Care Medicine, and Disaster Medicine and Management. He has a particular interest in cardiac emergencies, especially sudden cardiac arrest management, as reflected in his work Code Blue – The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Manual, as well as disaster preparedness and response systems, highlighted in Code Red – The Disaster Manual. Additionally, his academic contributions suggest involvement in perioperative care, trauma and accident & emergency medicine, and cardiovascular health awareness, integrating both clinical practice and public health perspectives.
