Microalbuminuria as an indicator of cardiac and renal dysfunction in newborns
Abstract
Search for early sensitive markers of myocardial and renal injury in newborns remains topical. To evaluate microalbuminuria clinical significance for the diagnosis of renal and cardiac dysfunction (cardiorenal syndrome) in newborns within postoperative period. In the neonatal intensive care unit 116 newborns of the first days of life of the medical and surgical profile were examined for 7 days. Differences in microalbuminuria prevalence on the first day after surgical correction were determined, the chances of renal albumin loss in the surgical group are 3 times higher than in the somatic group, in the absence of creatininuria at admission. Transient microalbuminuria in newborns can be considered an indicator of the surgical stress degree. Microalbuminuria is not pathognomonic, it is associated with an increase in the renal filter permeability as a result of hyperfiltration due to fluid therapy.
