A very rare right atrium tumor: Liposarcoma
Abstract
Tumors affecting the heart are extremely rare pathologies, dominated by myxomas and their clinical expression is generally non-specific. They can have systemic manifestations (fever, arthromyalgia), cardiological (heart failure, rhythm disorder, chest pain) and exceptionally embolic events. The diagnosis is based on cardiac ultrasound which is the basic examination but the use of a CT scan or better MRI is usually to specify the tumor structure and the relationships of the cardiac tumor with adjacent structures but the definitive diagnosis is made by the puncture-biopsy of the mediastinal mass after the histological study. We report here in this poster a clinical case of a very rare right heart tumor entity revealed by a pulmonary embolism. Echocardiography revealed a right intra-atrial mass and it was the CT scan that specified the characteristics of the tumor mass and its relationships with adjacent structures. The anatomopathological study gave the definitive diagnosis.
