Track: Heart Devices

Cardiovascular Conference 2025

Heart Devices is a broad term that applies to all the equipment used in diagnosing, monitoring, as well as managing heart ailments. These devices may be implantable or wearable, and are essential in the treatment of cardiovascular conditions and enhancing the lives of the patients.

  • Pacemakers: Pacemakers, they are devices that have been surgically placed in the chest to deliver electrical signals to the heart to maintain a correct rate per minute.
  • Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillators (ICDs): Wearable devices that record the patient’s heart rate and can administer electric shocks if life-threatening conditions are identified, thus averting sudden cardiac arrest.
  • Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs): A mechanical assist devices which are placed to support the left ventricular pump function in patients with severe heart failure.
  • Heart Valves: Mechanical or tissue valves fixed to replace defective heart valves like stenosis or regurgitation by way of procedures like TAVR.
  • Holter Monitors: External monitors carried on the patient’s body to monitor the electrical signals of the heart over a long duration in case of diagnosis of arrhythmias and other diseases.
  • Loop Recorders: Small electrical recorders that can be inserted beneath the skin and record the heart’s rhythm for several months, useful in identifying occasional arrhythmias.
